About Us > Members

Three years ago, my students asked me to take them to Nicaragua. I had been volunteering every summer to live out the years I had spent out of my country. I enjoy being in humble communities with hard working people dealing with the similar issues of poverty as those in Baltimore City. After building our relationship through an artist-in-residency program with my students, we built a team of passionate and dedicated volunteers. With the additional support of their parents, principal and school, we were able to receive scholarships and donations to pursue this pressing vision and need.

I am the director and founder of B'more Cultured, nurtured and inspired by my youth as we re-create and live Nicaraguan-American history together so that our small, but wide, scope of the world is more socially just. Our journey has been very meaningful and powerful to all of us. My childhood wounds heal through community service and teamwork.
